Interior Design

When you think about your new remodeling project you want the finished product to be attractive, comfortable and functional. Interior design addresses all of these concerns and more. Not only do interior designers concern themselves with the beauty of the space, they care for its ease of use andsafety. Among the practical and technical considerations that affect the interior space are lighting, acoustics, space planning, organization andstorage, scale, accommodation of special needs, fire safety and compliance withlocal building codes.

When you hire an interior designer, you get the benefit of an experienced professional who can solve problems, help you avoid costly mistakes and, most importantly, create a space designed specifically to meet your needs.

At MRR Designs we provide design services from color consultations to kitchen and bathroom remodels to whole house remodeling. No job is too small to consult with our designer, Cheryl Morrison, to ensure that you are satisfied with the end result of your remodeling project.

We offer a few ways to work with our Designer. In addition to the “by the hour” option, Morrison Remodeling offers two levels of design services, Silver Level and Gold Level. Both levels begin with an initial “getting acquainted” meeting. This meeting is usually held at the property to be remodeled and includes a preliminary discussion of the client’s desires andrequirements, and a review of the services provided by Morrison Remodeling.

The Silver level moves beyond the initial meeting to provide a basic set of documents. These documents include a criteria matrix detailing the customer requirements, a project scope statement, and a set of construction documents that include a floor plan, a mechanical plan (electric, andplumbing), a construction plan (if any walls are to be modified) and a set of elevation drawings of the space targeted for remodel. The documents also contain schedules that list the items to be purchased by the homeowner, e.g. appliancesand cabinets. Click here to see a sample of these documents.

In order to achieve this level additional meetings with the client will be conducted to acquire additional information regarding the project, and the client’s preferences. A detailed questionnaire serves as the basis for the secondmeeting.

The construction documents depict the space planning solution that meets the client requirements. It can be used by the client to acquire builder estimates. By using the same base set of documents with all contractors to acquire build costs the client ensures they will receive comparable estimates. In a case where built-in units or cabinetry is involved it can be used to work with cabinet retailers to finalize cabinet selections.

The Gold level provides an additional level of design service where the designer will work with the client to specify all of the products to be purchased, including but not limited to cabinets, furniture, floor covering, wall covering, appliances, fixtures, lighting solutions, and color selections.

For both levels of service the designer and client meet to review and approve the plans. In addition, the designer will work with the builder throughout the build phase of the project to ensure that the client has continuing communication and that all issues are resolved in keeping with the agreed upon design.
